Low contemplating return to club football abroad

Joachim Low has revealed that he is contemplating coaching a foreign club once his contract with Germany expires after the 2018 World Cup.

The 56-year-old had an underwhelming career as a club coach before joining up with the German national team as Jurgen Klinsmann s assistant in 2004, with the high point being taking Stuttgart to the UEFA Cup Winners Cup final in 1997-98, a match won 1-0 by Chelsea.

Low also had unsuccessful spells with Fenerbahce, Karlsruher and Austria Vienna among others, but after guiding Germany to a World Cup triumph in 2014, the former midfielder might have rather more illustrious admirers should he opt to embark on a new challenge when his deal ends.

He told reporters: There will be talks with the association at some point leading up to…

Maradona cannot split Ronaldo and Messi

Football icon Diego Maradona says there is nothing to choose from between Real Madrid and Barcelona rivals Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

The stellar pair s ongoing rivalry has dominated the footballing landscape this decade, perhaps taking the baton from Maradona s own dispute with Brazilian great Pele over which of them is the sport s greatest player.

Having emerged from the cursed shadow of a next Maradona to establish his own legend, Messi has won eight LaLiga titles and four Champions Leagues in a glittering 12 years as a senior Barcelona player.

Ronaldo, a four-time league champion in England and Spain as well as three-time Champions League winner, seized a crucial advantage over Messi in the race to be this era s greatest this year as he captained Por…

Prediction: Tottenham vs Leicester

Best Odds: 19/20

Bookmaker:

Hoping to make an immediate return to winning ways on Saturday evening, Tottenham will welcome Leicester to north London.

Tottenham

Starting with the hosts, while Tottenham might have been smelling the chance to lay down a Champions League marker on foreign soil earlier in the week, Antonio Conte s men put in a downbeat display. Eventually hit with a late 2-0 loss away at Sporting Lisbon, Spurs will be desperate to prove that was just a minor blip. However, last seen on Premier League duties picking up a 2-1 victory against top-flight returners Fulham, the one-time Chelsea boss has seen his side muster 14 points from their opening six outings. Likewise, one of just two sides who can boast an unbeaten start to the 2022/23 campaign, To…

Gervinho completes move to Roma

Roma have completed signing of Ivory Coast international Gervinho from Arsenal, .

The 26 year old had failed to make a real impression in North London since signing from Lille in 2011, scoring just nine goals in forty-six league appearances.

His form in France was far superior, with fifteen goals in Lille’s title winning 2010/11 campaign enough to convince the Gunners boss to secure his services.

Roma manager Rudi Garcia is delighted to have secured Gervinho’s services, having been the man in charge during the player’s time at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy.

The attacker becomes the sixth first team player to leave the Emirates on a permanent deal this summer, as Arsene Wenger continues to trim his underperforming squad.

Dortmund could renew Tuchel deal

Thomas Tuchel could be offered a contract extension at Borussia Dortmund despite the club s underwhelming Bundesliga form, according to chief executive officer Hans-Joachim Watzke.

Dortmund are third in the table, but sit 13 points adrift of leaders Bayern Munich and eight shy of second-placed RB Leipzig.

Defeat to Benfica in the first leg of their last-16 Champions League tie came amid reports Tuchel s Signal Iduna Park future was under threat, with his deal set to expire next year.

But Watzke insists there remains a very real chance the 43-year-old coach will be offered fresh terms.

Of course a new contract is an option, Watzke told Bild.

Let s be honest here, we are not too far away from our pre-season objectives in any of the competitions w…
